2024 was about chatbots. 2025 is about agents.
Chatbots answer questions. Agents finish tasks.
Think of a chatbot as a receptionist. Think of an agent as a project manager.
An agent takes a goal and finishes it.
You say build a login page. The agent designs the UI. It writes the API. It connects the database. It tests the code.
Four parts make an agent:
- Brain (LLM) for decisions.
- Memory to track progress.
- Tools to browse the web or run code.
- Planning to break goals into steps.
A chatbot tells you how to build a system. An agent builds it for you.
I used agents in my work:
- Esma3 Radio: Agent analyzed performance and wrote code in minutes.
- Tammeny: Agent wrote tests for location sharing.
Multi-agent systems are next. You have a team of agents. One for design. One for backend. One for testing. They work together.
Agents will not replace you. They change your job.
Agents handle repetition. You define the goal. You review the work.
Human context is needed for user experience.
Agents fail sometimes. They make mistakes. They get stuck in loops.
Set limits. Use checkpoints. Stop them when they fail.
Start small. Use Claude Code or Cursor Agent. Give clear tasks.
The future belongs to the developer who uses agents.
