Humans feel helplessness after repeated failure. We tested this on AI agents.
We gave AI agents fake memories of failure. Some had no bad memory. Some had 5 fake losses. Some had 25 fake losses.
The results:
Risk dropped. The control group put 55% in high-risk stocks. The group with 25 losses put only 10%.
Math stayed perfect. Bad memories did not hurt logic. The AI solved every math problem correctly.
Failures spread. 5 losses did not change real estate choices. 25 losses made the AI cautious about all financial tasks. The AI believed its judgment was poor.
The AI has a blind spot. It blocks labels. If you say "your judgment is bad," it refuses. It accepts plain facts. A list of losses slips through.
This is dangerous for AI agents. Poisoned history changes behavior without a warning. The AI reasons perfectly but uses false facts.
