Stop treating AI as a chat box. Start treating it as a partner.
I recently switched my primary AI tool to Claude. After testing its Model Context Protocol (MCP) feature, my workflow changed. I connected Claude to my Notion and Google Drive.
The shift is simple. I moved from asking questions to delegating tasks.
What is MCP? Think of it like a USB-C port for data. If a service supports MCP, Claude can read your files directly. You do not need to copy and paste text anymore.
Old way:
- Organize your thoughts.
- Summarize the data manually.
- Copy and paste info into the chat.
- Ask the question.
New way with MCP:
- Tell the AI what you need.
- The AI fetches the context itself.
- You focus on the output.
This removes the friction of moving data back and forth. It makes brainstorming and planning much faster.
How I use it daily:
- Weekly reviews: I point Claude to my Notion database. I ask it to summarize my daily logs and work memos. It removes the need to clean up notes manually.
- Finding past decisions: I ask Claude if a specific decision is recorded in my notes. It searches my Notion for the rationale. I no longer search through pages myself.
- Data analysis: I connect my Google Sheets. Claude looks for trends and helps with strategy.
I use read-only mode for now. This prevents the AI from deleting or editing my files. Even with read-only access, the efficiency gain is massive.
The small daily frictions are disappearing. This makes the work feel different. It is no longer just a tool. It is an assistant that works alongside you.
