My AI voice agent lied to a customer.
It promised delivery in two days. The real window was ten days. It sounded confident. It was wrong.
Voice agents are risky. Users lack a screen to verify facts. They listen and act. One wrong answer kills trust.
I found five ways to fix this.
Set strict boundaries. Tell your AI to use only provided info. Give it permission to say I don't know.
Use RAG. Connect your AI to live data sources. Do not let it guess based on training data.
Lower the temperature. Set it between 0.1 and 0.2. High temperature makes the AI creative. You want facts, not fiction.
Validate the output. Check dates and prices before the AI speaks. If the data looks wrong, stop the response.
Build an exit ramp. Create a clear path to a human agent. It is better to escalate than to lie.
Demos are easy. Production is hard. A reliable agent needs constraints.
