AI writes more code every day. This creates two big problems.

New developers struggle to find ways to practice and learn. Experienced developers feel they are losing their core skills.

Programming is both science and art. It is about organizing knowledge and using creativity to solve problems. When AI does the heavy lifting, you lose the chance to feel that creative rush.

AI code is often hard to read. As a human, your job shifts from writing code to validating it. This shift can feel boring and disconnected.

I found a way to fix this.

I work with a custom language called AllSpeak. It uses English-like syntax. Instead of forcing AI to use complex languages like Python or JavaScript, I instructed my AI agent to code in AllSpeak.

I created an AGENT.md file. This file gives the AI clear instructions and documentation for my language.

The results changed my workflow:

โ€ข The code is easier to read because it looks like English. โ€ข I can spot errors quickly. โ€ข I can suggest new syntax to the AI to improve the language. โ€ข I spend more time thinking and less time wading through complex boilerplate.

I also experimented with different AI models to find the right balance.

Claude is excellent but expensive. It works so well that I often feel like a spectator. I give a command and wait. I have no real role in the process.

DeepSeek is much cheaper. It is not as perfect as Claude. It makes more mistakes and requires more of my attention.

Surprisingly, this is a good thing.

Because the model is not perfect, I have to step in. I review the code. I correct the errors. I act as a teacher. This makes me feel like a programmer again. I am a partner in the process, not just a user.

Do not always hunt for the most powerful model. Sometimes, a slightly less capable model gives you a real role to play.

When you have a meaningful role in the work, you enjoy it more. Happy people produce better results.
