I tell my coding students to avoid AI. It sounds old fashioned. The data shows why it matters.

An MIT study tested students writing essays. One group used AI. They worked less. Their brains did not form new connections. Later, they wrote alone. Their results were ten times worse. 83% forgot their own work minutes after finishing.

Some studies claim AI helps. A Harvard study showed AI tutors gave better test scores. Those students focused on a test. They did not learn the whole subject. Other studies compare AI users to people who did nothing. This is not a real win.

Look at math. Russia and China ban calculators in school. Their math scores are higher. The UK banned calculators in primary school. Kids forgot how to count.

AI is the same. It creates a fake sense of skill.

My solution is simple. Ban AI for the specific subject you study. If you study coding, do not use AI to write code. Use it to find news or manage your time. Do the hard work yourself.

Using AI to learn makes you helpless. It stops you from solving hard problems. Protect your brain. Do not take a calculator to math class.
