The Indian rupee gained 20 paise against the US dollar in early trade on Tuesday. The domestic currency opened at 95.47 and reached 95.41. It had closed at 95.61 on Monday.
Forex traders said the gain came after Israel and Iran agreed to ease tensions. The halt in fighting between the United States and Iran helped the currency. US President Donald Trump spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Iran warned it would strike back if Israeli bombing continued.
