India's merchandise exports grew by about 15 percent during April and May of this financial year. A senior government official shared this data with PTI on Monday.

- The commerce ministry will release the full trade report for May on June 15.
- Merchandise exports in April rose 13.78 percent from the same month last year to $43.56 billion. This was the highest monthly total in more than four years.
- Petroleum products drove most of the April growth as global crude oil prices rose.
- Imports also increased. The trade deficit reached a three-month high of $28.38 billion in April.
