I thought I had a technical SEO problem. Pages did not show up. Search Console was empty. I worried about indexing.
Then Google indexed the pages. Nothing happened. Traffic did not move.
Indexing is not understanding.
I build a tool to remove metadata from photos. The site worked. Google crawled it. Still, no one came.
I looked at the search queries users used. Users searched for:
- remove location from photo
- remove gps from image
- remove author from pdf
I used these words:
- metadata processing
- metadata extraction
- browser-side metadata cleanup
We talked about the same thing. We used different languages.
This changed my view of SEO. Indexing is the first step. Understanding is the second step. Understanding is slow.
AI makes this harder. Building is cheap. New pages take minutes. New features take hours. Creating tools is fast.
Search engines need to know what your tool does. I spend less time building now. I spend more time learning how users speak. This taught me more than any SEO guide.
