Most people think OCR reads clean papers. Equipment labels are hard.

Labels hide in dark closets. Dirt and rust cover the text. Users take photos from far away.

I learned three things building Fix-It Fast AI.

• Image quality beats AI. Fix contrast and shadows first. This makes text clear.

• Photos are never perfect. Users upload messy pictures. They are fixing a broken machine. Your software must handle this.

• Track confidence. OCR makes mistakes. Your system should know when it is unsure. Ask for another photo.

Building AI is about solving messy problems. Clean algorithms are not enough. Reliable tools win in the real world.
