I read many AI tool lists. Most look the same. The tools are merging.
Here is the breakdown:
- Cursor is fast for daily work.
- Claude Code handles hard refactors.
- Copilot wins because it is already in your setup.
- Chinese tools like DeepSeek lower the cost.
The tool is not the problem. The input is the bottleneck. You get better results with:
- Data flow diagrams.
- Clear API contracts.
- Short specs for the change.
This is documentation-driven development. It works for changes touching more than three files.
The "best tool" question is less important now. The "best workflow" question matters more. Tools do not replace engineering skills. You must structure the problem. You must review the output.
Do not overthink your choice. Pick the tool you open every day. Focus on the parts of the job AI does not do.
