The US government ordered Anthropic to shut down Fable 5 and Mythos 5 nine days ago. These are two of the most capable AI models in existence. The situation is changing fast.

President Trump met Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei at the G7 summit. The White House says this meeting eased concerns about the ban. No official date for bringing the models back exists yet. Some people say this makes safety decisions political. Others say politics is the only way to fix regulatory delays.

Google faces its own deadline. Gemini 3.5 Pro should release in nine days. The Fable 5 shutdown left a gap in the market. If Google releases on time, they might win over enterprise customers. They must act carefully to avoid the same scrutiny Anthropic faces.

Energy rules are also changing. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) updated infrastructure rules. These rules limit how much power AI data centers use in certain regions. Training new models will now cost more and be harder in the US.

Three facts stand out:

  • Model shutdowns are a real tool for policy makers.
  • AI governance is now part of global diplomacy.
  • Enterprise buyers want stability. They do not want to rely on models that might disappear.

The Fable 5 ban was meant to be a short pause. Now, energy policy and global politics are involved. Do not expect a simple end to this.

Day 10 arrives tomorrow.
