Security teams often see AI as a tool for phishing. It is more. Anthropic says AI now coordinates multi-step attacks. It helps attackers once they are inside your system.
AI no longer only writes emails. It helps with reconnaissance. It helps with moving through networks. It acts as a control plane for the attacker.
Attacks are not single tasks. They are chains of events. AI makes the handoff between these steps cheaper. A low-skill attacker with a model is a high risk.
You must watch the workflow. Do not only look at the final action.
- Log the tool layer.
- Watch for fast decision loops.
- Separate discovery from execution.
- Use checkpoints for sensitive moves.
- Treat model access as a security boundary.
AI lowers the cost of coordination. Stop looking at content. Start looking at operational telemetry. Look for the transitions.
