I attended my first Linux community meetup. It was a great way to meet students and professionals.
The organizers shared how to stay connected. You should join their mailing list and Matrix group. The mailing list works like a group email. Matrix works like a chat app.
The event started with introductions. Everyone shared their profession and their journey into Linux.
The first technical session was a challenge from W3.challs. The task was to find different ways to read text from a file.
The second session focused on automation. An expert compared Playwright to Selenium. Here are the key differences:
- Playwright has auto-waiting. Selenium requires manual waits for slow elements.
- Playwright runs tests in parallel natively. This makes tests faster.
- Playwright uses one API for Chromium, Firefox, and WebKit. Selenium needs separate drivers.
- Playwright includes built-in tools for screenshots, video, and API testing.
We ended with a 30 minute Q&A session. I asked about the best Linux distribution for developers.
I currently use Linux Mint Cinnamon. I want to find a distribution that improves my work efficiency.
What Linux distribution do you use for development? Tell me in the comments.
