I attended my first Linux community meetup. It was different from my usual technical blogs. I spent time with students and professionals.
The organizers shared how to stay connected:
- Join the mailing list for group discussions.
- Use Matrix for real time chat.
The event started with introductions. Everyone shared their profession and their journey into Linux.
A volunteer introduced a new challenge on w3.challs. The task was to find different ways to read text from a file.
The second speaker talked about automation. He works with Playwright. He compared it to Selenium.
Why Playwright works well:
- It has auto-waiting built-in. Tests do not fail when elements load slowly.
- It runs tests in parallel natively. This makes tests run fast on multiple browsers.
- It supports Chromium, Firefox, and WebKit with one API.
- It includes built-in tools for screenshots, videos, and API testing.
We ended with a 30 minute Q&A session. I asked about the best Linux distribution for developers.
I currently use Linux Mint Cinnamon. I want to improve my workflow efficiency.
Which Linux distribution do you recommend for developers? Tell me in the comments.
