Three updates for builders today.

  1. ChatGPT now runs on a schedule.

OpenAI added a Scheduled page. You can create, track, pause, and edit recurring jobs. ChatGPT no longer waits for you to ask a question. It runs tasks on its own.

How to use this:

  • Set up a daily news digest.
  • Automate a status poll.
  • Replace a manual check with a recurring job.

  1. Your phone creates AI video and music.

Gemini Omni turns text prompts into video. Lyria 3 creates music using your own vocals and tempo.

New updates move generation from desktop apps to your mobile device. You can edit photos and create clips directly on your phone.

  1. SpaceX buys Cursor.

SpaceX signed a deal to buy Anysphere, the maker of Cursor. They will use Cursor to improve the Grok model and the Colossus datacenter.

What this means for developers: Most major AI code editors now belong to big tech companies. This includes Copilot, Claude Code, Windsurf, and Cursor. Tabnine remains one of the few independent options.

Watch where your tool's incentives lie to avoid vendor lock-in.
