India changed its export duty rules for certain fuels.
The government increased the export duty on Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) and diesel. This change starts on Tuesday, June 16.
The duty on petrol stays the same.
The government made this move for three reasons:
- To keep fuel supplies high for local use.
- To reduce the incentive to export fuel.
- To protect domestic markets from global energy shifts.
Geopolitical events continue to affect energy prices worldwide. These new duties help ensure India has enough fuel for its own needs.
