The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has received its first shipment of over 16,000 doses of the Ervebo vaccine as it battles the deadliest Ebola outbreak in its history. This massive international medical intervention comes at a time when the virus is spreading exponentially across regions plagued by instability and weak health infrastructure.

A Growing Health Crisis in North and East DRC

The current Ebola crisis, declared by authorities on May 15, 2026, has already resulted in a staggering 2,516 deaths out of 5,290 confirmed cases. The outbreak is concentrated in the northern and eastern provinces, where the Congolese state’s presence is minimal.
