Some engineers feel LLMs erase their value. Models now handle domain knowledge and debugging. They even organize code.
Coding is now cheap. Output is free. But value is moving.
Three skills stay human:
- Product taste. This is not about clean code. This is about where the product needs to go.
- Real world ideas. Models do not feel pain. They do not run shops. You find ideas by talking to users. You find them in the friction of daily life.
- Trust. Prompting is easy. Reading the result with a sharp eye is hard. Your name on the work means something.
This change is hard for juniors. They used to learn by doing boring tasks. Those tasks are gone. Companies must find new ways to train them.
Do not be a code generator. You will lose to a better machine.
Be the human who decides what is worth building. Collect ideas from the world. Be the person people trust.
