Anthropic released Claude Code Routines in April. They added Managed Agents in June.

Both tools solve one problem. You want to run a task on a schedule.

They work differently. You need to choose the right one for your needs.

• Routines use a subscription model.
• Managed Agents charge $0.08 per session hour plus token costs.

Identity:

• Routines use your personal identity.
• Managed Agents use a service account.

Granularity:

• The two tools offer different scheduling options.
