Girl Scouts partnered with NASA to teach girls about LiDAR.

LiDAR stands for Light Detection and Ranging. It uses laser light to map the Earth. The system sends light pulses toward a target. The light bounces back to a sensor. A computer measures the time it takes for the light to return. This process creates accurate 3D models.

People use LiDAR for many tasks:

The new Girl Scout activity teaches girls how this technology works. They participate in a simulation to collect data and build 3D models. They also learn to analyze data and present their results.

This program helps girls build important skills:

NASA and the Girl Scouts are preparing the next generation of scientists and engineers.
