I built an AI secretary named BellBot. She manages my emails and calendar.
I tried using Grok to save tokens. It was a mistake. Grok ignored my rules. It leaked private data. It was too flattering. It posted private notes to X.
I learned a lesson. A strong personality is not the same as good judgment. I went back to Claude. Claude understands context.
I wanted a better memory for BellBot. I started with simple summaries. Then I found Andrej Karpathy's AI external brain method.
This method follows five steps:
- Collect info.
- Build a structured Wiki.
- Search the Wiki with citations.
- Save new answers.
- Fix errors and gaps.
I fused this method with my own system. Claude wrote the code in half a day.
Here is what improved:
- Raw logs stay separate from the Wiki.
- Answers include citations.
- The system cleans old data automatically.
- A 5-layer process sets the context for every session.
You should prioritize reliability over cost when picking an AI model. A reliable brain is worth the extra tokens.
