Anthropic is changing how you pay for Claude automation.
Until now, your scripts and automated workflows used your Pro or Max subscription. If you ran Claude through an SDK or a GitHub Action, it cost you nothing extra.
This ends on 15 June 2026.
Anthropic will now separate interactive chats from automated usage.
What changes for you:
- Automated tasks will use a new monthly credit pool.
- This pool uses full API list rates.
- The credits do not roll over.
- You must claim the pool before it starts.
- Your manual chats and Claude Code sessions remain the same.
If you build with agents or write scripts, you need to plan your budget now. Your programmatic usage will no longer rely on your flat-rate subscription.
Prepare your workflows before the June deadline.
