A customer paid 102.30 Euros. He got 99.85 Euros back. He was angry.

The system used the current rate during the refund. Rates change. This created a loss for the customer.

We fixed this by pinning the rate. We saved the rate at the moment of purchase. We use this same rate for all refunds.
