𝗗𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘁: 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗠𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆
I built DivineEast. It is an interactive website for Chinese folk religion and mythology.
Most English resources on this topic feel dry. Wikipedia feels academic. I wanted to build a space that feels like walking into a real temple.
The site includes:
- 16 Chinese deities. You can read about Cai Shen, Guan Yu, Guan Yin, and Sun Wukong. Each entry includes their backstory and worship traditions.
- Fortune telling. It features 10 types of traditional Chinese divination.
- Chinese Zodiac. Learn about your sign, personality, and lucky elements.
- Virtual prayer. You can light incense or offer fruit and wine. The site saves your prayers for one year.
- Worship guides. Learn how to pray for wealth, love, and health.
Technical details:
- Built with pure HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- No frameworks used.
- Deployed on Netlify.
- Uses LocalStorage to save your prayers.
- Features AI-generated portraits for deities.
The site is free. There are no ads and no signups. This is a passion project.
