Parimal Nathwani won a Rajya Sabha seat in Jharkhand on Thursday. The NDA backed his candidacy.
This win matters for two reasons:
- It strengthens the NDA position in the Upper House.
- It happens as the country prepares for new constitutional reforms.
The win also comes amid reports of cross-voting within the I.N.D.I.A bloc in Jharkhand.
A two-thirds majority gives the ruling alliance more strength to pass major laws.
