Sensex and Nifty Rally for Third Day: Key Gainers and Losers Today
Indian equity markets continued their impressive upward trajectory for the third consecutive session on Tuesday, driven by positive global cues and stabilizing energy prices. Both the BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty 50 closed significantly higher, marking a robust recovery period for domestic investors.
Benchmark Indices Hit New Heights
The BSE Sensex surged by 544.15 points, or 0.71 per cent, to settle at 76,808.48, having touched an intraday high of 76,846.74. Similarly, the NSE Nifty 50 rose by 135.25 points, or 0.57 per cent, to end at 23,989.15.
This rally marks a significant three-session streak where the Sensex has gained a total of 2,975.93 points (4%) and the Nifty has advanced 827.55 points (3.57%). The broader market also showed strength, with the BSE MidCap Select index rising 0.64 per cent and the SmallCap Select index gaining 0.59 per cent.
IT and Energy Sectors Drive the Rally
The market momentum was primarily fueled by the IT and energy sectors. HCL Technologies emerged as the standout performer on both indices, jumping 3.55 per cent. This surge follows the company's announcement of a ₹1,427 crore investment to acquire a 10.46 per cent stake in Sarvam AI, a government-backed sovereign AI model developer.
Other notable gainers included:
- NTPC: Up 2.15% (₹355.55)
- Bajaj Finserv: Up 2.12% (₹1,787)
- Hindustan Unilever (HUL): Up 2.04% (₹2,200)
- TCS: Up 1.72% (₹2,199)
Sectoral indices reflected this broad-based buying, with Realty gaining 2.27 per cent, Focused IT rising 1.72 per cent, and the FMCG sector climbing 1.12 per cent.
Global Cues and Easing Crude Prices
A major catalyst for the rally was the de-escalation of geopolitical tensions. A reported peace deal between the US and Iran regarding the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz helped ease fears of energy supply disruptions. Consequently, Brent crude prices dropped by 2 per cent to $81.45 per barrel.
Furthermore, Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) showed renewed interest in the Indian market, acting as net buyers with purchases worth ₹200.05 crore.
Maiores Perdedores: Setores de Metais e Automotivo Ficam para Trás
Apesar do otimismo geral, certos setores enfrentaram ventos contrários. Os setores de Metais, Commodities e Automotivo estiveram entre os principais retardatários. A Hindalco liderou o declínio entre os componentes do Nifty 50, caindo 3,11% para fechar a ₹982,40.

- JSW Steel: Queda de 1,72%
- HDFC Life: Queda de 1,17%
- Maruti Suzuki: Queda de 0,83%
- InterGlobe Aviation: Queda de 0,83%
