I spent months using AI coding tools and agents. The speed was high. Work took hours instead of days.
At first, it worked. We had a clear plan and a technical vision. AI helped us move fast.
Then things changed. Small changes happened across the system. Each change looked correct on its own. But the whole system drifted away from the design.
The AI did not follow a governed architecture. It used the small amount of info it had at the moment. Small wins created a big mess.
Most people talk about prompts or models. They ignore the most important part. Context.
Context includes:
- Architecture decisions.
- Business rules.
- Constraints.
- Technical standards.
Without a plan for context, AI makes its own rules. This is a risk.
I started a new framework. It is called Context-Driven AI Development (CDAD).
The rules are simple:
- AI suggests.
- AI analyzes.
- AI accelerates.
- AI does not change architecture without approval.
Architecture must live in the context. Context is the new source code.
Do you see architectural drift in your projects? How do you manage the context for your AI?
