Sensex and Nifty Extend Winning Streak: Top Gainers and Losers Today

Indian benchmark indices continued their upward momentum for a fourth consecutive session on Wednesday, driven by easing geopolitical tensions and softening crude oil prices. Despite persistent selling pressure from foreign institutional investors, both the BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty managed to close in the green.

Market Performance: Sensex and Nifty Close Higher

The benchmark BSE Sensex rose by 347.14 points, or 0.45%, to settle at 77,155.62, having reached an intraday peak of 77,218.99. Similarly, the NSE Nifty gained 96.55 points, or 0.40%, to finish at 24,085.70. The Nifty touched an intraday high of 24,108.20 during the trading session.

This positive movement comes on the back of a US-Iran peace deal, which has effectively lowered geopolitical risks. According to Vinod Nair, Head of Research at Geojit Investments Limited, the continued weakness in crude oil prices—with Brent crude trading around USD 79.10 a barrel—has acted as a significant catalyst for buoyant investor sentiment.

However, Hong Kong's Hang Seng ended in the red, and US markets had closed mostly lower on the previous Tuesday.
