India faces a serious rainfall shortage.
The southwest monsoon is behind schedule. Data from the India Meteorological Department shows a 42 per cent rainfall deficit between June 4 and June 18, 2026.
This gap creates risks for several sectors:
- Farming and crop yields
- Drinking water supplies
- Reservoir water levels
The lack of rain makes recovery look difficult.
