India faces a serious rainfall shortage.

The southwest monsoon is behind schedule. Data from the India Meteorological Department shows a 42 per cent rainfall deficit between June 4 and June 18, 2026.

This gap creates risks for several sectors:

  • Farming and crop yields
  • Drinking water supplies
  • Reservoir water levels

The lack of rain makes recovery look difficult.
