The world of physical AI is moving fast. Here are the most important updates from today.

𝗥𝗼𝗯𝗼𝘁𝗮𝘅𝗶 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 Robotaxi services are scaling globally. WeRide and Uber launched services in Zurich. This makes it the second European city to host these services in two weeks. Stellantis, Wayve, and Uber signed a deal for global L4 robotaxi cooperation. Additionally, Uber, Lucid, and Nuro plan to launch in Houston by mid-2027.

𝗥𝗼𝗯𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗼𝗶𝗱𝘀 Faraday Future unveiled a new robotics lineup. This includes the FX Navi education robot for $1,990 and a new humanoid robot. The company aims to serve home and education markets. In the retail space, Unitree opened its first Asia store in Shanghai. Reports show robot dogs currently outsell humanoids in this market.

𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 World models are attracting huge investments. Physis raised over $100 million to build general world foundation models. Alibaba also launched HappyOyster 1.0 and DreamX-World 1.0, moving world models from research into usable products. Data remains a key driver. Mifeng Technology raised significant funding to provide data services for the physical AI industry.

  • LoopWM: A new architecture that makes world models 100 times more efficient.

𝗗𝗲𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲 New hardware is making robots more capable and affordable. The DexLink Hand offers 16 degrees of freedom for under $400. Star Dynamics launched a 21-DOF direct-drive hand. These advancements aim to bring human-level dexterity to mass-produced robots.
