This is the end of my series on LLM interfaces. We move past chat boxes.
Chat is a line. Thinking is not. Canvas interfaces turn chat into a map. You branch from a response. You compare options side by side. You stop scrolling. You use nodes.
Stop using chat boxes. Put AI where you work. A button fixes a test. A summary lives in a thread. The app provides context. The AI changes the UI for you.
Generative UI adds risk. Attackers hide fake buttons in data. This is phishing.
Defenses:
- Treat untrusted input as unsafe.
- Use host-rendered approvals.
- Log every action.
- Keep the request and approval screens separate.
Frontend work is moving up.
- Design systems are now AI languages.
- Trust UX is a high value problem.
- Taste is your edge.
