You want to test a new idea in Claude Code. You do not want to lose your current chat. Use the /branch command.

It forks your conversation. This lets you explore a different path. The original chat stays safe. Use /resume to go back to your first version.

Example:

• Claude suggests an OOP refactor.
• You like the result.
• Type /branch.
• Ask Claude to try a functional pipeline instead.

You now have two versions to compare.
