Safari DevTools stopped working for me. The Network and Sources panels became useless.
In the Network tab, I could not see any requests. I tried scrolling and resizing the window. Nothing appeared. I could only find invisible items by pressing the down arrow.
The Sources panel failed too. I could not access website files. I could not set breakpoints. I could not debug my work.
I tried several steps to fix it:
- I considered a factory reset. This takes too much time.
- I updated my macOS from Sonoma to Sequoia. This did not fix Safari.
- I installed Safari Technology Preview. This worked. The DevTools worked in the preview version, but the standard Safari remained broken.
I eventually found the real solution.
I bought a new MacBook. The new hardware fixed the issue immediately. Safari works perfectly on the new machine.
If your Safari DevTools fail, do not waste hours fighting the software. If a software update does not work, the problem might be your hardware.
