AI usage is up to 84%. AI trust is down to 29%.
This looks like a contradiction. It is not. It is pragmatism.
We do not trust AI to be right. We use it because it saves time.
I see this in my own work. Last month, I used an AI tool for content drafts. The tool invented a fake security vulnerability number. It was not real. This is a hallucination.
Hallucinations cause big problems. In a technical setting, a wrong command can crash a server. In a business setting, wrong data can break a supply chain.
So why do we keep using it?
- It handles repetitive tasks.
- It provides fast drafts.
- It speeds up research.
We have adopted a new mindset: "It saves me time, so I will check the results myself."
A tool does not need to be perfect. It only needs to be good enough to move the work forward.
If you use AI, you must change how you work. You cannot treat it as an expert. Treat it as an assistant.
How to work with AI effectively:
- Always verify technical facts with independent sources.
- Use prompt engineering to get better answers.
- Use RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) to provide the AI with real data.
- Never accept a result without a human review.
The future is not about waiting for perfect AI. The future is about humans learning to guide imperfect AI.
We will likely never trust AI 100%. But we will continue to use it because the efficiency gains are too large to ignore.
