Wipro Shares in Focus After Launching Anthropic-Powered AI Hub

Wipro has announced a significant strategic move with the launch of an Applied AI Center of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru, powered by Anthropic’s Claude models. This initiative is designed to accelerate enterprise-scale AI adoption and integrate advanced generative AI capabilities across its global client base and internal operations.

Strengthening Enterprise AI with Claude Models

The core of Wipro’s new initiative is the establishment of an Applied AI Center of Excellence specifically focused on Claude models. By leveraging Anthropic’s advanced AI, Wipro aims to embed intelligence into its existing "Wipro Intelligence" stack, which encompasses its delivery, functional, and industry-specific platforms.

This CoE will function as a central development hub for creating AI-native platforms. Wipro plans to build industry-specific solutions tailored to complex sectors, including healthcare, mortgage, manufacturing, airlines, and consumer businesses. The goal is to move beyond theoretical AI applications and integrate these models into live operating environments to drive co-innovation with clients.

Scaling Expertise via Forward Deployed Engineers

To bridge the gap between model capabilities and business implementation, Wipro is building a specialized global pool of Forward Deployed Engineers (FDEs). Unlike traditional support roles, these engineers are trained to work directly within client environments. They combine deep knowledge of business processes and technology systems with an understanding of model behavior to ensure AI integration delivers measurable business outcomes.

A massive talent upskilling program is also central to this rollout. Wipro has committed to certifying 10,000 front-line delivery experts in the use of Claude models over the next 18 months. This large-scale certification drive is intended to create a robust ecosystem of practitioners capable of designing, deploying, and managing sophisticated AI-enabled systems in real-world enterprise settings.

Transforming Internal Operations and Strategy

Wipro’s AI strategy is not limited to client services; the company is also pursuing an "AI-native" transformation internally. The company plans to expand the use of AI across its own core functions, including finance, human resources, and sales, to drive operational efficiency.

Srini Pallia, CEO and Managing Director of Wipro, emphasized that this move aligns with the company’s broader strategy to be "consulting-led and AI-powered." By combining Claude’s model expertise with Wipro’s deep domain knowledge, the company aims to transition from a traditional IT services provider to a leader in enterprise-scale AI adoption.
