The DGCA’s decision to embed mandatory occurrence reporting into the eGCA portal consolidates these streams into one address. For an airline’s safety department, this means a single login where pilots, maintenance engineers, and flight dispatchers can file a report immediately after an event. The system captures timestamps automatically, creating an audit trail that investigators can later follow without digging through paper folders.
Mandatory occurrence reports cover a wide terrain. A flight crew might file one after encountering severe wind shear on approach. An air traffic controller could log a runway incursion. Under international standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organization, countries must collect these reports, analyze them for trends, and take corrective action before patterns turn into catastrophes. The platform should also make data aggregation simpler. When reports live in a centralized database, analysts can spot recurring faults across multiple operators. If three different airlines report similar hydraulic issues on the same aircraft type within a month, the regulator can issue a fleet-wide directive within days rather than quarters.
